FAQs

1 - HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THE JUSTICE MOVEMENT?

The Justice Movement wants to inspire and equip Christian young people to live out God’s calling to biblical justice as part of living out their Christian faith, as well as to become leaders in encouraging others within the church to do the same.

2 - WHAT IS JUSTICE?

The Justice Movement is rooted in biblical justice. It’s about patterning our lives after the life and ministry of Jesus.

Jesus came and lived among us to bring us healing, love, and hope. Jesus “moved into our neighborhood” when He came in the flesh (John 1:14 The Message). He drew near to pain and suffering to bring healing and restoration.

When Jesus publicly announced His ministry, He spoke of justice, freedom, and setting captives free (Luke 4:14-20). He ushered in God’s plan to restore us and the world. Jesus heals humanity from the bondage of sin and brings freedom to those enslaved in many forms of oppression.

Jesus started a movement of healing and restoration, and He invites us to participate.

3 - WHAT IS JUST WATER?

The Justice Movement will include particular focuses on specific justice-related issues, beginning with the global water crisis.  The resources related to this focus will include curriculum, videos, and weekend event guides under the title “JUST WATER.”

4 - WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DO JUSTICE WEEKEND (DJ WEEKENDS) AND JUST WATER WEEKEND?

A Do Justice weekend event will focus on learning about justice and a particular global issue. Through learning, spiritual formation, and fundraising, youth will work together to seek justice through local churches.

JUST WATER Weekend will be the initial campaign in a collective of Do Justice Weekends offered through The Justice Movement.

5 - WHAT IS A JUST WATER WEEKEND?

JUST WATER Weekend is a Do Justice Weekend event focused on learning about justice and the global water crisis, plus fundraising for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) development in South Asia and in other priority areas.

6 - WHEN IS JUST WATER WEEKEND?

Groups, families, and individuals can choose ANY weekend of the year to participate. Or you can pick from two JUST WATER Weekends, October 16-17 and March 18-19, that are around two international water days: Global Hand Washing Day and World Water Day.

7 - DO I HAVE TO PLAN JUST WATER WEEKEND ON ONE OF THE SCHEDULED DATES?

You can plan to have your JUST WATER Weekend on any weekend.

We have two international dates to focus our efforts during Global Handwashing Day and World Water Day, but the choice will be up to each group.

Use #thejustmove  on social media to share about what’s happening in your group with the movement.

8 - WHAT IS THE JUST WATER CHALLENGE?

The JUST WATER Challenge can be accepted during JUST WATER Weekend (as an activity), or it can be done as a personal way to get involved in JUST WATER advocacy and fundraising by choosing 7, 40, or 365 days of drinking ONLY water. Participants can set up a fundraising page just like they can for Just Water Weekend.

Drinking only water opens up doors to tell the story about the global water crisis. We drink the clean water we have to remember the clean water people still need. At the same time, we raise funds to support communities who need help implementing their own WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) programs.
